Hayward Field

The “torch” at Hayward Field is the iconic Hayward Field Tower (also called the Hayward Tower), a 10-story (188 feet 8 inches tall) landmark at the northeast corner that flares upward like an Olympic torch. Its steel structure is clad in ~15,815 sq ft of perforated aluminum ImageWall panels (by Zahner) featuring portraits of five UO track legends — Bill Bowerman, Steve Prefontaine, Raevyn Rogers, Ashton Eaton, and Otis Davis — with interior spaces including a lobby/exhibits (Hayward Hall), offices, observation deck, viewing areas, elevator, and a training staircase to the top. The massive video board (called the Hayward Experience Board or Visual Experience Board) is a curved, ~5,080 sq ft LED screen (roughly 60 ft tall by 160 ft long), one of the largest permanent video displays for a track & field venue in the U.S
